HSH 1-on-1: Bridgton Academy’s Darrick Wood

Darrick Wood

Words.

He wasn’t afraid, wasn’t shy. He went right at the NBA guys, and had his own little game-within-the-game going on against John Wall. Darrick Wood held his own, and did a few things to stand out. At one point, Wood put down a sideways windmill where it seemed like he jumped, met the rim, then chilled for a split second, before bringing the ball all the way around for a finish. MORE >

HSH 1-on-1: Fredericksburg Christian’s Seth Allen

Seth Allen & Isaiah Thomas

Words.

About 30 minutes into the workout, I had to say it. “That dude is nice,” I told some other media members. “I like his game.” He was smooth in the drills, and was hitting pull-up bank shots just as easily as he was throwing himself lobs and finishing with tomahawks. A mature game. “That dude” was Seth Allen, an explosive 6-2 scoring point guard from Fredericksburg Christian in Virginia. MORE >

HSH 1-on-1: Constitution’s Daiquan Walker

Daiquan Walker

Words.

The first time they called his name, Daiquan Walker came strolling out to a packed house at Reebok Headquarters with the biggest smile on his face. Around Philly, he’s one of the up-and-coming Class of 2012 players, a 6-1 PG who can run a team and lockdown the opposition. But until his Reebok Breakout Challenge performance earlier this summer, he was unknown nationally. Not anymore. Big East schools are courting him now. Wall handpicked five standouts from the Breakout Challenge to come train with five pros this week. Walker, out of Philly’s Constitution High School, was one of them. MORE >

HSH 1-on-1: Findlay Prep’s Myck Kabongo

Myck Kabongo

Words.

Austin Rivers, Anthony Davis and Michael Gilchrist have received the most attention amongst the Class of 2011 high school prospects, but you’d be crazy to overlook Myck Kabongo. The 6-2 point guard headed to Texas has a handle that can break down just about any defender, an innate ability to hit the open man and a lethal jumper with deep range that will cause issues for Big 12 opponents next year. We got up with the Toronto product this past weekend at the Jordan Brand Classic in Charlotte to discuss his off-court interests, his high school career – that included stops at two of the country’s premier programs – and his goals for next year.
