14-Year Old Commits to Rutgers

In case you didn’t hear about this last week, 14-year old 5-8 G Maiscei Grier (Las Vegas, Nev.) committed to Rutgers before ever playing in a varsity high school game. Freddie Hill might have taken a flyer on Grier for his basketball bloodlines; Maiscei’s dad, Marshall, played professionally for almost ten years. The Griers also have a long-standing relationship with Hill, possibly prompting Marshall to profess his adoration for the program to Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog. “We would stand by our (commitment),” Marshall said. “I look at it like this. I always say to Freddie, ‘What’s bigger than this (at Rutgers)?’ He treats you first class. They eat first class. They travel first class. And the Big East is the Big East. It speaks for itself.”

I assume he’s a point guard… right?
