Brandon Knight is considered the top point guard in the 2010 class. Fresh off a second AAU national championship with his Team Breakdown squad, Knight is now at the Adidas Nations Camp, which brings some of the top young pros from Europe and Africa to square off against the best the USA has to offer. We got a chance to chat with the 6-3 guard from Pine Crest School (FL) about his summer, music and his experience at the Adidas Nations Camp.
High School Hoop: How has your summer been?
Brandon Knight: Everything is good, been doing a lot with all the different camps?
HSH: You’re out in Dallas, Texas at the Adidas Nations Camp, what have you learned out there?
BK: I’ve learned mostly off the court things, like how to interact with people of different cultures. We have eight teams out here so there are a lot of different cultures. On the court we are just learning how to play the international games. I’m also doing drills like dribble moves.
HSH: What is the competition level like at the camp?
BK: The competition is pretty tough. The international teams want to beat us, so they bring their best. It’s all about chemistry, they play team ball. If we play as a team we will be fine.
HSH: You and Kenny Boynton have played together almost everywhere, you guys are coming off another championship at AAU nationals, what has it been like playing with him and winning everywhere?
BK: It’s been a good experience. We try to win everything we play in. We also won Vegas and our own Team Breakdown tournament.
HSH: Going into your junior season at Pine Crest HS, what are you looking to improve on?
BK: I want to improve on being a better leader. I want to lead with my play, lead by example.
HSH: How many total offers do you have at this point?
BK: My dad handles all that stuff, I got a couple though.
HSH: Do you have a favorite school on your list?
BK: I’m wide open right now.
HSH: What do you like to do in your spare time?
BK: I like to read. Go to the movies, chill at home and watch TV.
HSH: What is your favorite genre of music?
BK: Hip-hop, R&B and gospel.
HSH: You listen to gospel music? Are you religious?
BK: Yes, I like gospel. I am religious; I try to be as much as I can.
HSH: Who is your favorite artist right now?
BK: Lil Wayne.
