Hargrave Military Academy (Va.) 6-9 senior forward DeShawn Painter committed to North Carolina State Wednesday night, picking the Wolfpack over Maryland.

“It was just a great fit, and I connected with the players really well,” Painter told HighSchoolHoop.com tonight. “I called coach (Sidney) Lowe and he was really excited about it.”

Painter was originally signed to Florida, but said that after his mother got sick it made him want to be closer to home. “She’s doing OK now,” says Painter. “It was that and I really grew up an ACC guy. Florida granted me my release after that. I’m planning on signing with State real soon.”

Painter finalizes a six-man class for the Pack, which includes forwards Josh Davis and Richard Howell, guards Lorenzo Brown and Scott Wood, and center Jordan Vandenburg.

Ok NC State. So what is the process of dropping scholarship players. Josh Davis needs to go.
