John Wall Cuts His List To Two

The folks at Kentucky can take a huge sigh of relief. The Wildcats remain on John Wall‘s list of potential destinations, which has been cut from seven schools all the way down to two according to a number of sources. And while those in Lexington continue to cross their fingers, the people at the University of Miami have to be pumping their fist that they snuck in at the last minute to be the other school still alive.
From Adam Zagoria’s ZagsBlog…
John Wall is down to two schools — Kentucky and Miami — according to multiple sources close to the situation. “It’s down to the two of them, no question about it,” one source said. “It is Kentucky and Miami. The kid is leaning toward Kentucky. There is a little bit of a concern with the people closest to him that if he goes to Kentucky that they’re going to lose control.”
However, SI’s Luke Winn heard from Wall’s closest advisor, Brian Clifton that there is a third school still in the running: Duke. The Blue Devils had some important things in their favor from the jump – mainly the proximity to Wall’s home in North Carolina where his ailing mother lives. But if Zagoria is right, it looks as though Coach K is ultimately going to lose out.
How should the basketball community react to that? Undoubtedly, some people will want to say that this is a sign that Duke is starting down a slippery slope, that they’ll soon be resigned to signing second-rate recruits. Some people might say Wall is a kid who wanted to get away from some of his problems at home, and that’s why Duke lost out.
Or, maybe Jon Hood and Garrius Adams pitches just really resonated with Wall.

[...] Before John Wall was hogging headlines, there was an equally fierce recruiting war being waged over Florida’s top combo guard Kenny Boynton. In the end he chose to stay home to try and bring the Florida Gators back to prominence. [...]
