North Carolina Recruit Thinks He Can Be the Best Player in the Country
Words. Jason Jordan

After a stress reaction in his right leg sidelined him for more than a month this past season, Kinston (N.C.) High’s Reggie Bullock, a North Carolina commit, is back healthy and ready to lead CP3’s AAU squad this season. We caught up with Bullock, a 6-6 junior shooting guard who is rated the No. 13 prospect in HighSchoolHoop top 50, to chat about everything from watching the Tar Heels win the national title in the Dean Dome to what is was like to work out with Dallas Maverick’s guard Jerry Stackhouse last summer.
HighSchoolHoop: What did you average this past season?
Reggie Bullock: 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
HSH: You chose North Carolina really early in the process, why did you want to end things so quick?
RB: It was my dream school. It’s a winning program with a great coach and great facilities. The education is great. It’s just my dream school.
HSH: You had to be happy that the Tar Heels won the national title.
RB: Most definitely!
HSH: Where did you watch the game?
RB: I watched it at the Dean Dome. It was crazy. All of the people there knew me and they were chanting my name. There was one girl with a Michigan State shirt on and she was getting booed. It was real crazy. That was a great night.
HSH: Are you 100 percent healthy now?
RB: Yeah 100 percent.
HSH: So now that we’re in the full swing of the AAU season, who are you licking your chops to play against?
RB: It really doesn’t matter. I guess any guard that’s ranked higher than me. Maybe Brandon Knight or someone like that.
HSH: What kind of things do you want to improve on this AAU season?
RB: Ball handling mostly. I do drills with two balls at the same time and dribble through cones and things like that. I know that I need to get better with that.
HSH: I know some guys work out with NBA players sometimes and you’re from Kinston, North Carolina, where Jerry Stackhouse in from.
RB: Oh yeah I went out to Dallas last summer to work out with him. We were going about three times a day. It helped my game out a lot because I worked out with his trainer and he gave me different shooting drills. It was real good. He said if I get some weight on me, he doesn’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be No. 1 in the nation.
HSH: Do you plan to do that again this summer?
RB: It depends on my schedule with AAU. I would like to.
HSH: Rumor has it that you may decide to go the prep route. Any truth to that?
RB: Not at all. I’m gonna be at Kinston because I want to be the first McDonald’s All-American to come from this school.
