Beal headed to the SEC

Words.

Brad Beal

Chaminade College Prep (Mo.) scoring guard Brad Beal chose Florida over Kansas, Missouri and Illinois this week. Over the summer, Beal led the U.S. 16-and-under national team to a gold medal in Argentina, averaging 19 points per game.

One of the biggest lures for the Gators was that Beal’s friend, Winter Park (Fla.) star guard Austin Rivers, who is rated the No. 5 prospect in the HighSchoolHoop top 50, is also committed to Florida — albeit a shaky commitment since he’s also heavily considering Duke.

When we caught up with Rivers on Monday to ask him about his thoughts on Beal’s commitment, Rivers said, “That’s what’s up!” He maintains that he’s committed to Florida but is also considering Duke.

Beal, who stands 6-3, is the Gators only solid commitment from the 2011 class.

***Coming Soon: Austin Rivers has agreed to let HighSchoolHoop in like no other media outlet by chronicling his most intimate thoughts about the recruiting process in a diary. The first installment is scheduled to be unveiled this week. Check back daily for that.***

I heard a lot of good things about this kid. They said he can flat out score. By the way, the new Josh Selby diary entry has been released and he is a man amongst boys in his first high school scrimmage. http://www.courtcred.com/2009/12/josh-selby-welcome-to-my-world-episode-3/
