Rivers no longer committed to Florida

Words.

Austin Rivers

We told you it was coming, and now Winter Park (Fla.) combo guard Austin Rivers has made good on our claim.

“I’m not committed to Florida anymore,” said Rivers, ranked No. 2 in the HSH national top 50. “I had to do it. It just makes everything easier.”

For now, he’s focused on three: Duke, North Carolina and Florida. At this point the Gators are only on the list to be political from what we’re told. How often do players de-commit to re-commit? Exactly.

Right now, Duke has the inside track because up until two weeks ago, when UNC reached out to Rivers’ AAU coach asking to recruit him, the Blue Devils were the only team that Rivers allowed to jump into his recruitment. Expect Texas, Kentucky and UCLA to be among the new schools Rivers allows to recruit him in the near future. Rivers said he’s planning to do a diary about the whole situation so check back for that early this week.
