Kabongo headed West for senior year

Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), the two-time National High School Invitational tournament champs, just lost what Coach Mike Peck called “the best point guard” in the program’s short history in Class of 2010 star Cory Joseph, who is headed to Texas.
But recently the Pilots found out that they won’t miss a beat now that point guard Myck Kabongo, a Texas commit in the 2011 class who is ranked No. 41 in the HSH national top 50, has decided to transfer from St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.) to Findlay for his senior season.
“Me and my family think it’s best for me to go somewhere where I will be happy and a place that will get me the most prepared before I head to Austin, Texas, next year for college,” Kabongo wrote on his blog. “The decision to leave was not a difficult one to make. After coach (Danny) Hurley left it was hard to be at St. Benedict’s Prep. Coach Hurley was the main reason for me going to the school. His departure, and the fact I was never happy at the school, made me want to transfer.”
Kabongo, a junior who was named Prep Player of the Year by the New Jersey Star-Ledger, averaged 18 points and six assists per game this season.
