Kadeem Jack to stay put

Kadeem Jack

After flirting with the possibility of taking North Carolina or Kentucky up on two very attractive offers late in the recruitment process, Rice High (New York, N.Y.) senior forward Kadeem Jack will stick with his original plan of attending South Kent Prep School (Conn.) for a fifth year.

Jack originally considered Arizona, Connecticut, Miami and Arkansas before opting for South Kent. His camp wanted him to have another year to develop since he’s only played organized ball for three years after growing up in Trinidad and Tobago.

Jack averaged 17 points and eight rebounds for Rice this season. Still, it should be noted that the Kentucky and North Carolina options weren’t exactly as solid as they were initially. The Wildcats just signed Jefferson High (Portland, Ore.) forward Terrence Jones and Miami-Dade College (Fla.) forward Eloy Vargas, while North Carolina got a commitment from Alabama forward Justin Knox, a transfer who will be eligible to play for the Tar Heels next season. Had the two schools continued to court Jack, he would’ve picked between them. We’re hearing it would’ve been North Carolina.
