Brandon Jennings

Fresh off an outstanding rookie year in Milwaukee, Brandon Jennings has been making the rounds lately. First he appeared at Steve Nash‘s “Showdown in Chinatown” soccer event in New York City, then went up to the EBC at Rucker Park and the NBA Draft, before landing in Spain this week.

While Jennings has played overseas before, this trip to Europe is not to play, but rather to teach. Jennings is a guest counselor at the World of Basket (W.o.B) Basketball Camp.

The W.o.B. Camp was started in 2001 as a showcase for some of the top high school players in Europe. It has featured many NBA stars over the years. Before Jennings this year, the camp has had Jason Kidd, Tayshaun Prince, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, Nate Robinson, Manu Ginobili and Desmond Mason appear as counselors. The camp is for players ages 6-18, but one goal is to provide access to the pros for the top European high schoolers, and bringing in Jennings certainly achieves that goal.

The W.o.B. is one of the fastest-growing camps in Europe. At the start they typically drew only about 30 players annually, but today it’s increased to nearly 1,000 in recent years.
