Duke commit Adams addresses rumors

Tyler Adams

Brandon (Miss.) High School forward Tyler Adams said the rumors about him wavering in his commitment to Duke were “crazy” and “not true.”

“I don’t know what’s been going on,” said Adams, a rising senior who committed to the reigning national champions in late-April. “I’m solid to Duke.”

A Mississippi State fan site posted an article recently saying that the Bulldogs were still recruiting Adams, along with Georgetown.

The article also quoted Adams as saying, “Mississippi State is still in the mix and still an option.”

Adams said he “never said that.”

“That’s just not true,” he said. “My friend told me about the article. I didn’t even know about it. The guy from that site called me and asked me a bunch of questions and I talked to him, but I didn’t say I was still looking at Mississippi State or anything like that. I could sort of tell that he was just trying to start stuff. I did tell him that those schools were still recruiting me.”

When told that, though it happens, continuing to recruit a player who is already committed is frowned upon, Adams replied, “Yeah, well, I don’t know all the rules with this stuff … But it doesn’t really matter anyway. I’m going to Duke. That’s 100 percent. I’ll be at Duke next year.”

Thanks for the report, Jason. Good to hear Tyler dismiss these rumors himself.

Duke’s ’11 class is looking solid so far…and Adams, Gbinije and Plum3 will be joined by some more top talent soon!

I actually think it’s good Tyler Adams went to Georgetown Midnight Madness. He only gets this time in life once and I hope he enjoys the experiences and the journey. I still hope he keeps to his word and comes to play for Duke next year because we need somebody with his athleticism, size, and with his post moves. He’ll do so well with Seth Curry, Austin Rivers, Michael Gbinije, Josh Hairston. He and MP3 could relieve each other when either guy gets into foul trouble but I think Tyler Adams will be the stronger presence inside the paint.
