HSH 1-on-1: Quincy Miller has Louisville, Baylor, Oklahoma atop list
Words. Jason Jordan

Westchester Academy (High Point, N.C.) forward Quincy Miller has one of the biggest Twitter (@QMillerTime) followings of any high school player in the country at slightly under 6,000 followers. And his big fan base pales in comparison to his big personality.
“I just loooove to have fun,” said Miller, a rising 6-9 senior. “Of course I work hard and all of that, but I’m all about a good time too!”
He’s had a ball this summer, dominating the AAU scene and winning a gold medal with Team USA’s U-18 squad.
“It’s been a good time this summer,” said Miller. We caught up with Miller to talk rumors, pranks and recruiting, plus much more:
HighSchoolHoop: QMillerTime, what’s up man?
Quincy Miller: (Laughs) What’s up man. You’re the first one to call me that.
HSH: Yeah?
QM: Yeah, that’s pretty funny.
HSH: You’re a tough guy to get in touch with…
QM: (Laughs) Yeah I am, but we’re talking now so that’s good.
HSH: True. Let’s get right to it. Talk about Adidas Nations.
QM: It’s just different the way other players play. We play against teams for other countries so it exposes you to a lot of different styles. I like it because I ended up learning a lot.
HSH: What did you average this AAU season?
QM: Around 32 points and 12 rebounds.
HSH: Wow, you were really slacking this summer, aye?
QM: (Laughs) Oh yeah man, I’ve gotta get those averages up!
HSH: Who was your toughest matchup this summer?
QM: Probably Sidiki Johnson from the Metro Hawks. He’s pretty good.
HSH: Indeed. Let’s talk recruiting. What’s your list looking like?
QM: Kentucky, Louisville, Oklahoma, Duke, Texas, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Baylor.
HSH: You probably heard about our story on the rumor that you’re favoring Louisville. Talk about that.
QM: (Laughs) Right. I’m not favoring Louisville. I think they’re a great school and they’ve hired coach Tim Fuller, he’s a real cool guy. I do like Louisville, but I’m not favoring anyone. I’m wide open.
HSH: Fair enough. You obviously can only take five official visits so give me the schools that will definitely get an official visit from you.
QM: Louisville, Baylor and Oklahoma.
HSH: So basically everybody else is playing for two spots?
QM: Yeah basically, but again I’m really open.
HSH: How much will you factor in players like you being there when you get there, whether they’re already there or they commit from your class?
QM: That really doesn’t affect me at all. We’ve all got our own paths and trying to do our own thing, so I don’t think it would affect me.
HSH: You and Deuce Bello are really tight.
QM: Yeah that’s like my brother.
HSH: So let’s go to rumor No. 2 that you guys are a package deal.
QM: We could be, but we’re gonna do what’s right for us. If it’s not right for both of us we wouldn’t go. But yeah we definitely would like to go to school together if it’s right.
HSH: Give me a percentage on you and Deuce going to the same college.
QM: Forty percent.
HSH: What players are recruiting you the hardest?
QM: Quincy Acy at Baylor and Chris Smith at Louisville.
HSH: Do you have a timetable for ending this thing?
QM: No, not really. I just want to look at all of my options and make sure I make the right decision for me. I’m not gonna rush it.
HSH: You’re a big joker, right?
QM: Oh yes! I love to joke around and laugh.
HSH: Prankster too?
QM: That’s me!
HSH: So hit me with your best one?
QM: Too many to name. I don’t know… Just whatever is funny to me, I’d probably do it as a prank. Guys know that I have the best pranks.
HSH: What do you have left this summer?
QM: I’m playing in the Elite 24. I’m looking forward to that. Other than that I’m just going to be working out real hard, trying to get better everyday.
