2012 center Cameron Ridley picks Texas

Fort Bend Bush (TX) center Cameron Ridley, a highly-touted prospect in the Class of 2012, has verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-10, 240-pounder, a native Texan, chose to stay in-state over offers from North Carolina, Georgetown and Ohio State.
A relative latecomer to the game of basketball, Ridley didn’t start playing competitively until two years ago, so his potential is high. He said the primary factor in choosing Texas was the relationship he’s built with the Longhorns’ coaching staff, particularly assistant Rodney Terry.
“Over time, they were showing the most interest in me and that kind of got me,” Ridley told ESPN.com. “When I went on a visit they made me feel like I was a part of their team and made me feel comfortable.”
Ridley added, “They showed me different stuff I could use when I play and it works. They talk to me about stuff LaMarcus Aldridge did and it helps me. I feel confident with my game.”
Ridley was integral in Bush capturing the Texas Class 5A state title last year, when he was a sophomore. He is currently averaging a near triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks per game.
