LSU has a new coach in Johnny Jones, and now a brand new elite recruit to boot. Yesterday at an assembly at his high school, 6-9 star forward Jarrell Martin (Madison Prep, Baton Rouge, La.) announced that he was officially committing to the Tigers program.

So how much of an impact will Martin have on the program?

Martin is considered one of the best players in the Class of 2013 and is the highest-ranked in-state recruit since Greg Monroe. Martin used his power and athleticism to average 26 points and 14 boards a game his junior year and will likely evolve into a PF in college.

He turned down offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, St. John’s, and Texas A&M.
