Just because Syracuse is arguably the best team in all of college basketball right now doesn’t mean that Jim Boeheim and his staff are just sitting back and enjoying the ride. There is no time better than right now to strike with recruits, and the ‘Cuse made a move over the weekend.
Last night, The Recruit Scoop’s Alex Kline tweeted that Syracuse officially offered Class of 2015 St. Benedict’s star guard Isaiah Bricsoe. MORE >

For a college coaching staff that has been putting in serious time (many times years of pursuit) on a local recruit, pretty much the absolute worst news that they can ever receive is that Duke is suddenly interested in that same player. Coach K and Co. are among the handful of programs that can usually afford to sit back while other school spend time and resources recruiting players and then swoop in to take who they want down the stretch. And that may be the case with Philly star forward Amile Jefferson (Friends Central).
Alex Schwartz of NBE is reporting that Duke is now in hot pursuit of one of 2012′s top unsigned players. MORE >

High school players announce their college commitments almost every day and usually, unless it is one of the nation’s elite, blue-chip prospects, those announcements aren’t big news. Baltimore’s Aquille Carr may not be ranked as the country’s top high school prospect, but his announcement on Friday that he committed to Seton Hall certainly qualifies as a big deal. While we are fans of all ballplayers, few mean as much to Dime as the “Crime Stopper.”

You know how ESPN the Magazine regularly runs the “Player X” feature in the front each issue? For those who aren’t familiar, the magazine works with an elite athlete in a major sport to talk, unfiltered, about what really goes on in his/her sport. The athletes are anonymous, so they are free to talk about whatever they want to without fear of repercussions from their league, team, teammates or fans. It’s almost always a great read and is consistently one of the best features in the Magazine.
Now ESPN has done the “Player X” feature with an elite high school athlete who is being recruited by a slew of Top 25 colleges where he dishes on what really happens during the recruiting process. The first installment is like reading from the “He Got Game” script when Jesus Shuttlesworth goes on his “Big State” recruiting visit with Rick Fox. MORE >
