St. Mark’s (Southborough, MA) small forward Alex Murphy ended his recruitment Monday, picking Duke over Florida, North Carolina, Boston College, Arizona, Kansas and West Virginia.
“Ultimately, it came down to my relationship with Coach K,” Murphy told USA
Today. “I went down last year and visited earlier this year and just felt at home. I felt comfortable with the players and coaches – and felt like there’s no better place. It was clear to me.”
Murphy, ranked No. 30 in the HSH National Top 50, is Duke’s first commitment from the 2012 class.

Upper Room Christian Academy (Raleigh, NC) combo guard Rodney Purvis ended his recruitment Friday night, verbally committing to Louisville over Duke.
“I just really felt comfortable when I went on my visit,” said Purvis, a junior who is ranked No. 11 in the HSH National Top 50. “I really built a great relationship with the coaching staff and I knew it was where I wanted to go.” MORE >

Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) point guard Quinn Cook will decide between Duke and UCLA on Thursday, according to his coach, Steve Smith.
Cook flirted with the possibility of entertaining his “dream school” North Carolina when coach Roy Williams began to turn up the heat in his recruitment of Cook recently, but after more consideration Cook decided to end the process sooner. He will make his announcement at Oak Hill. MORE >
