Coach K does it again. After last week’s Jabari Bird announcement highlight how important it is for local programs to win the battle for homegrown talent, Duke has swooped in to nab 6-7 Class of 2013 Ottawa (Kansas) forward Semi Ojeleye from the clutches of midwest schools like Missouri, Indiana, and Wisconsin, as well as programs like UCLA and Stanford.

St. Mark’s (Southborough, MA) small forward Alex Murphy ended his recruitment Monday, picking Duke over Florida, North Carolina, Boston College, Arizona, Kansas and West Virginia.
“Ultimately, it came down to my relationship with Coach K,” Murphy told USA Today. “I went down last year and visited earlier this year and just felt at home. I felt comfortable with the players and coaches – and felt like there’s no better place. It was clear to me.”
Murphy, ranked No. 30 in the HSH National Top 50, is Duke’s first commitment from the 2012 class.

Few players, if any, had as productive a summer as Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) shooting guard Shabazz Muhammad — evidenced by his 32 ppg scoring average on the AAU scene. Now every school from North Carolina to UCLA is in hot pursuit of the 6-5 junior, making his one of the most intriguing recruiting stories in the country.
Muhammad, who is ranked No. 8 in the HSH National Top 50, has agreed to give us exclusive access by chronicling his thoughts in this regular diary where he’ll keep everyone updated on his high school season and the recruiting process: MORE >
