Last week, Landon School (Bethesda, Md.) star guard senior Joe McDonald officially committed to George Washington. He followed up the biggest announcement of his basketball life with a career-best offensive explosion over the weekend, going off for 49 points and 18 rebounds in his team’s overtime win over rival Episcopal.

As expected, Bullitt High School (Mt. Washington, Ky.) superstar Derek Willis officially committed to Kentucky yesterday afternoon. In a press conference held in his high school library in front of a contingent of media and UK supporters, he made his announcement – to a round of cheers.

Duke Is Now After Philly’s Amile Jefferson

For a college coaching staff that has been putting in serious time (many times years of pursuit) on a local recruit, pretty much the absolute worst news that they can ever receive is that Duke is suddenly interested in that same player. Coach K and Co. are among the handful of programs that can usually afford to sit back while other school spend time and resources recruiting players and then swoop in to take who they want down the stretch. And that may be the case with Philly star forward Amile Jefferson (Friends Central).
