6-1 Class of 2013 guard Demetrius Jackson (Mishiwaka, Ind.) is making a name for himself on the basketball court, and lots of major Midwest college powerhouses are taking notice. The NBE Basketball Report filed a an update on Jackson’s recruiting situation and the schools getting in line for his services are elite: Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois, Butler, Xavier, and Georgetown are all vying for Jackson’s commitment.

To give you an idea of what has these programs salivating, Jackson is just nine games into his junior season and has already cracked 1,000 points for his career and is just a few points away from smashing the school’s all-time record. Since de-committing from Purdue earlier in the year, Class of 2013 star 6-9 forward Derek Willis (Bullitt East High School, Mt. Washington, Ky.) has become a hot recruiting commodity for some major DI programs. Kentucky, Louisville, and Indiana are reportedly in the mix along with the Boilermakers, who are still keeping themselves in the race.

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Indiana shocked the world this weekend, when their program came back from the dead to get No.1 Kentucky in Bloomington.

Credit for the resurgence of the Hoosiers program can be attributed to a lot things, but there’s nothing more vital to their comeback than Tom Crean landing local freshman center/forward Cody Zeller. The best of the three D1 Zeller Brothers, it doesn’t take a genius to see that the foundation for an NBA Lottery pick are in place. Chicago’s Jamari Traylor Commits To Kansas

He’s only recently started playing the game, but IMG Basketball Academy’s Jamari Traylor has quickly shot up the list of top basketball recruits. Now, he’ll continue his rapid development with the Kansas Jayhawks after committing to the school on Wednesday.

Zeller picks Indiana

In the end, Washington (IN) High School forward Cody Zeller “just knew it was right” when he gave his verbal commitment to Indiana over Butler and North Carolina.

Zeller, a senior who is ranked No. 38 in the HSH National Top 50, told the Indianapolis Star that he wasn’t sure about his decision until “about a week ago.”

There were small rumblings that Zeller would join his older brother Tyler Zeller at North Carolina, but from the beginning we maintained that Zeller would end up being a Hoosier. MORE >
