Florida’s Montverde Academy has evolved into a national power on the high school scene – a development that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. Yesterday, new broke that Ben Simmons, a 6-8 superstar player from Melbourne, Australia will be enrolling at the school where he will run with fellow five-star prospects Dakari Johnson, Kasey Hill and D’Angelo Russell.

How good is Simmons? He dominated the American competition at the adidas Nation and Pangos tournaments this summer, and is considered to be a top prospect in the class of 2015. NBADraft.net’s scouting report on the smooth lefty says that he has a “chance to be special.”

National power Montverde (Montverde, Fla.) and their star Kasey Hill are regulars on HighSchoolHoop.com. Last night, Montverde took care of business against Orlando’s Dr. Phillips High School, but not without getting lit up by Dr. Phillips’ RaShawn “Pookie” Powell.

The future Memphis Tiger had 41 of his team’s 69 points, including seven threes (many of which were from NBA distance). Watch the highlights here: MORE >

Rivers drops 46 in senior debut

Austin Rivers

Words.

Montverde (Fla.) Academy probably should have been following Winter Park (Fla.) combo guard Austin Rivers on Twitter. Perhaps they would have been better prepared for what Rivers had in store for them in his season opener.

@AustinRivers25: Gameday!!!!! Today is my actual first game of my last high school season! I’m going off!”

Rivers backed that up with 46 points in a 102-92 win over the Eagles. In the process, Rivers, a Duke commit who is the top ranked player in the HSH National Top 50, eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for his career. Check out the video highlights of Rivers’ big night after the jump: MORE >
