When it comes to creative ways to announce a college decision, Tony Wroten Jr. might have given Harrison Barnes a run for his money. While the Garfield H.S. (Seattle, WA) class of 2011 point guard didn’t have the technological wizardry of Barnes’ now-famous Skype announcement, Wroten’s method of picking Washington over Louisville, UConn, Seattle U and Villanova was better executed. If you thought LeBron James was wrong to keep so many basketball fan bases in suspense while he made his free-agency decision, you’re not going to like Tony Wroten Jr.

The Garfield H.S. (Seattle, WA) senior is the best player in his state, arguably the best on the West Coast, and certainly among the most gifted players in the entire country. Wroten, a 6-5 lefty combo guard, didn’t even play basketball last season due to a knee injury he suffered while playing wide receiver on the Bulldogs’ football team, but he is nonetheless being targeted by just about any high-profile college you can imagine. Brandon Roy‘s road to NBA stardom has been full of potholes. In college, he was plagued by injuries and wasn’t a starter until his senior year. Before that, when his NCAA academic eligibility was in question and he waited to see if he could even attend the University of Washington, B-Roy spent a few months working as a shipping-container cleaner at the Port of Seattle for $11 an hour.
