Last week we brought you the unique case of Memphis native Jarnell Stokes – basically one of the country’s elite programs was in line to get 6-9 skilled power forward added to their lineup in January.
Among the top contenders were thought to be Florida, Kentucky and his hometown Memphis Tigers. Late today though, Stokes surprised lots of people when he announced that he’s headed to Tennessee. MORE >

While most top prospects in the Class of 2012 have already been noticed and solidified their status by elite college teams, perhaps nobody has done a better job at continuing to move up the recruiting boards than Northeast High School’s Alex Poythress out of Clarksville, Tenn. How much of a jump as he made? Poythress received an official offer from the Duke Blue Devils on July 28, alluding to just how much he’s helped himself in moving up in the Top 20 players of his class. MORE >

After much speculation, one of the top recruits in the Class of 2011, DeAndre Daniels, has finally made his decision – he’ll be a Huskie.
Originally from Woodland Hills, Calif., the 6-8, 200-pound forward from IMG Basketball Academy committed to UConn today after being heavily recruited by the likes of Texas, Kansas, Duke, Florida, Tennessee and Oklahoma State. MORE >

The questions surrounding Kevin Ware’s college destination have finally been put to rest as the shooting guard from Rockdale County High School (Conyers, Ga.) signed with Louisville. Ware bolsters Louisville’s already strong recruiting class, which ranks ninth in the nation. Before signing with Louisville, Ware backed out of verbal commitments he had made to both Tennessee and Central Florida this spring. MORE >

Mississippi State has struck again for the Class of 2012. Paul Jones of BulldogBlitz.com reports that Fred Thomas, a 6-5 shooting guard from Jim Hill High School (Jackson, Miss.), has officially committed to Coach Rick Stansbury and the Bulldogs. Although the signing was expected considering MSU was always the frontrunner, MSU fans can relax knowing that this is finally a done deal. MORE >
