In a city where the Lakers, UCLA, and now Blake Griffin consistently hog the headlines, high school basketball in Los Angeles has been relatively overlooked compared to cities like New York, Chicago, or even more recent hotbeds Seattle and Houston.

But considering that high schools in L.A. proper have produced nearly 60 NBA players — not to mention schools in the metro area like North Hollywood and Compton producing dozens of pros — Southern Cali is deserving of a little more shine. MORE >

Quincy Miller Suffers Knee Injury

Quincy Miller, HSH’s No. 2 ranked player in the nation, recently suffered a knee injury in Westchester (N.C.) High School’s 81-75 victory over city rivals High Point Christian on Dec. 9.

Miller, a versatile 6-9 senior forward who signed with Baylor in October, appeared to have injured himself slipping on a fast break while attempting a crossover in the second quarter. MORE >

After trailing by eight at the half, St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.) pulled to within two points with just one second left in regulation. And the reason for the comeback, point guard Kyrie Irving, was at the line.
