Tristan Thompson is arguably the best player in America. He’s out to prove he’s one of the best players in the world this week in France
By now we all know the story.
Tristan Thompson, a 6-9 forward who was widely regarded as the top junior in the country last season, got kicked out of the St. Benedict’s Prep School, in Newark, N.J., and landed at Findlay Prep in Nevada. It looked as if Thompson, who is rated the No. 2 prospect in the HighSchoolHoop top 50, was beginning to unravel under the microscope that comes with his status.
“I learned to be wise on your decisions that you make,” Thompson told Scout.com in April. “Your decisions can make people assume some things about you. Especially with the situation that I had. Some people probably assume that I’m a negative child or a bad kid or something. That’s not who I am, that’s not the type of child my parents raised me to be.”
Thompson, a Texas commit, held down a 3.2 GPA last year and helped to lead Findlay to a 33-0 record and a national title, averaging 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals. He was also one of 18 players selected to represent the USA in the World Basketball Tournament in Douai, France this week as part of the 2k Sports Preseason All-American Team.
This will be Tristam’s first tournament in a few weeks since suffering an ankle sprain. But after bouncing back from a year like last year, coming back from a bum ankle shouldn’t be much of an issue …
