Next Stop: 2011 NBA Draft
Words. Aron Phillips

It’s a completely different world than your average 16/17-year-old. These guys don’t have “summer break.” Every day, every weekend, they are travelling somewhere for an AAU tournament, am All-Star camp, a skills academy. They know the players, they know the coaches and directors, and they know the college basketball landscape as well as (if not better than) Jay Bilas.
They have to. For all these guys with open recruiting, they need to know what teams have spots open and who’s going where. Also, anyone that has already given a verbal is recruiting their friends to go to school with them.
The other thing that sets these guys apart is talking about the NBA. I can write and talk about it all day, but these guys are going! And watch out for 2011 NBA Draft, because there are definitely some players here that will be in it.
While their high school classmates are deciding whether or not to go see “The Hangover” in theaters, these guys are having legit and serious conversations about their first paycheck – whenever that may be – and what they’re going to do with it. Whether it’s buying a house, a car or a chain to rock, these are conversations they’ll be having and decisions they’ll be making before you know it.
Knowing this, the guys had a talk about what it means to represent your country, especially in international play. All these guys have or will have a college scholarship, but you can’t be a “pro” until you’re a “professional.”
