Australian 8th Grader Thon Maker Is 6-11 And Skilled

Words.

Thon Maker doesn’t fall into the majority when it comes to young big men. You know, those kid’s that grow into their body so quickly that they don’t know how to deal with those lengthy limbs and coordination. Apparently, the 6-11 rising eighth grader (seriously, he’s that tall and that young) recently showed up at the John Lucas International Middle School Combine in Houston and proved that he’s got a pretty good feel for handling his lengthy frame. Just 14 years old, Maker comes from Australia and showed up a bunch of his pint-sized classmates in more ways than blocked shots.

While dominating the competition is to be expected when you’re more than a foot taller than everyone else on the court, Maker showed impressive ball-handling skills, adept basketball IQ and a great motor that is often lost with big men years older than he. He also has the ability to dribble the ball once or twice in making his way to the cup before flashing a hook shot with soft touch.

And remember, he still might have some growing to do, making him a prospect to keep an eye on as he matures as a member of the Class of 2016.
